I believe in a holistic and enriching education, led by curiosity and compassion, centering the interests of the individual and promoting synthesis across disciplines.

The classroom teaches us important things, but it also urges us to compartmentalise our knowledge and to specialise early. This is convenient and efficient for institutions, but it can be stultifying for the intellect.

I’m a deep generalist, also known as a multipotentialite. Even during my MA and PhD I resisted strict specialisation, writing interdisciplinary dissertations which drew on the history of mathematics and science as well as poetry and theology.

I have a great deal of subject-specific expertise, and I can always help students to prepare for exams in English language, literature, and music. However, I add the most value in providing an enriching, imaginative, and inspiring curriculum that goes beyond the demands of the exam board.
